In-Person Therapy in Philadelphia, Virtual in 43 States.
Resentment, hurts old and new, life transitions, parenthood, or the passage of time can leave people feeling isolated and deeply misunderstood in their relationships. What was once a joyful source of love and companionship can come to feel like a stale and frustrating cycle of painful compromise.
I help couples who would like to deepen their sense of connection and the feeling of being on each other's side. This often means coaching effective and honest communication while also enhancing the ability of each person to think, feel, understand and be themselves in more authentic ways.
As each person engages in this process and witnesses the other doing the same, both can come to feel understood by the other. Just as importantly, both people can develop an appreciation for their ability to surprise, and be surprised by their partner.
There are no guarantees or quick fixes and the ultimate outcome can vary. Sometimes, both people feel strongly that they can continue to grow alongside one another in the relationship. For others, respecting each other's agency and well-being means agreeing to part ways. Either way, when a pattern of relating is recognized as stifling and unsustainable, relationship therapy can be a powerful catalyst for change so that something that more dynamic and fresh can take root.
If the two of you feel ready to schedule a confidential consultation, you can click the link below to pick a time that works for you, or you can email me at vou@voupsyd.com to set up a time to talk.
Please know that I'm happy to spend this initial time answering your questions, getting to know a little about the two of you, and getting a sense for how good of a fit we could be, even if we ultimately decide not to work together. If any of us decides it's not a fit, there is never any obligation to continue.
Many people have mixed feelings and want to be as sure as they can be that they are working with the right therapist before making any decisions or commitments. Research suggests that finding the right fit is so important for meaningful and long-lasting changes. To that end, please see the Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.
